ASUS in my opinion is in a really great position right now. They have been making Windows desktop and notebook computers for many years now and they have also been making Android tablets for the past couple of years. Their combined experience with computers and tablets helps them better understand how to make both Windows 8 tablets and Windows 8 notebooks.

For now ASUS is going to keep things simple and launch just two Windows 8 devices. Their first device is called the ASUS Vivo Tab and their second is called the ASUS Vivo Tab RT. As their names suggest one runs Windows 8 while the other model runs Windows RT. Microsoft has a similar lineup with the Surface and the Surface RT.

Vivo Tab

If you’re in the market for a more full featured Windows 8 device that can run older Windows apps as well as the new Metro applications then you might be interested in the ASUS Vivo Tab. The Vivo Tab has some pretty standard specs that seem to be a blend between a high end netbook and a low end ultrabook. Along with the specs listed below the Vivo Tab has a keyboard dock that adds a QWERTY keyboard, trackpad, two USB ports, and a larger battery to the tablet. ASUS hasn’t announced any details on the pricing or availability of the Vivo Tab although considering the hardware my best bet is a price between $500 and $650 and a launch this fall.
